Gori Uplistsikhe
It is a large cave city sits 10km east of Gori above the north side of the Mtkvari River. Uplistsikhe became the residence of the Christian kings of Kartli and an important trade centre on a main caravan road from Asia to Europe (Source: lonelyplanet, n.d.).
The gate was installed to prevent further vandalisation on the wall.
Svetitskhoveli Cathedral
This church is the second largest Christian holy place after the Jerusalem church. It is one of the holiest and most magnificent churches in Georgia. It is known for hiding the cloak of Jesus’ blood and the pillars of the early church buildings. There are also tombs of several members of the Georgian royal family in the church, including the last two kings of Georgia (Trip, 2020).
Last day in Georgia and it was an amazing 15 days trip. Filled with many experiences that I am forever grateful for. I look forward to what Armenia has installed for me. Stay tune! Till next time, Georgia.
