WELCOME TO MY TRAVEL BLOG

Uzbekistan

In May 2021, I kicked off my yearly solo trip with the doubly landloard country in Central Asian, Uzbekistan. I have always been intrigued by their culture and architectures hence, would like to take this chance to explore around.

The Registan Square

This is my first time visiting Uzbekistan and absolutely fell in love with the country the moment I arrived. It was a refreshing experience as the place was completely different from Singapore. Their buildings, people, commute and market were beautiful and amazing. I managed to engage a tour guide for this trip and she had been absolutely kind and helpful to bring me to various famous and historical places. Upon reflecting, this trip had enabled me to fully immerse into their culture and learn so much more about the breathtaking city. I would definitely encourage you to visit if opportunity ever arises.

So, let’s get right into it!

This was taken in my plane on the way to Turkey for the transit to Uzbekistan. I thought the sunrise outside was magnificently beautiful and wanted to keep this view with me thus, I decided to snap a photo.

During my transit, I stayed at iGA Lounge. It was a simple hotel but the cleanliness was great and their service was flawless. After a day, I hopped on to my next plane to Uzbekistan.

Day 1

Samarkand City

Upon my arrival, I met up with my tour guide, Laziza (on the left). Then, proceed to the nearest store to get myself a SIM card.

Laziza brought me to try out their beef burger to get my hunger fix and I must say, this is one of the best beef burger I had in such a long time. The meat firmness was just right and it was very juicy. Such a mouthwatering burger!

After lunch, I went to the nearest connivence store to get some basic necessities for my trip as I did not bring it along with me.

I arrived at my Samarkang Airbnb later in the noon where I settled down all my belongings and wash up before heading off to the next stop on the itinerary. This Airbnb incorporated their culture into the design which was what i like the most about it.

Later that day, I met up with Laziza for lunch at Xan Atlas. I guess, you will know what I have to say about the food. It was amazing and extremely affordable (less than SGD 10).

Onto the next stop >>>

Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum

This museum marks the final resting place of Amir Timur. He was the conquror who founded the Timurid Empire in and around the modern day of Afghanistan, Iran and Central Asia (Source: Wikipedia, 2021). From my personal knowledge, he was buried here along with his two sons and two grandsons. His spiritual advisor, Mir Said Baraka and teachers were said to be buried in here as well.

As you can see from the photos, the details of this building is beautiful. These photos do not do the place justice at all.

Day 2

National Art Gallery (Samrakand)

Started day 2 with this museum where it commemorates the end of war world 2

The yellow booklet is created to remember the soldiers who fought during the war world 2. It consists a list of all their names inside.

Then, its time for some food!

My favourite of all the dishes was, Plov (in the middle). Plov was created in the 4th century BC by Alexander the Great who asked his cooks to make use of what they have at hand (lamb, quail, abit of chilli & other staples) to prepare a light but filling rice dish for his soldiers.

That day, it was Laziza birthday so I decided to order her a small cake to celebrate. After that, I decided to go back to my airbnb to get some work done for the rest of the day.
